The 53rd meeting of the Japan Section of the Regional Science Association International will be held in Niigata, between the 8th and the 10th of October, 2016. Several members of the Regional Science Academy participate in this event: Yoshiro Higano, Peter Nijkamp, Kingsley Haynes, Amit Batabyal, Karima Kourtit and João Romão.

Recently, the Japan Section of RSAI has announced the creation of the Asia Pacific Journal of Regional Science, which will start to be published in 2017. This journal replaces Chiikigakukenkyuu (Studies in Regional Science), after 45 years publishing the best Japanese research in regional science in the Japanese language and, more recently and more frequently, also in English.

Edited by Yoshiro Higano, the Asia-Pacific Journal of Regional Science aims at expanding the frontiers of regional science through the diffusion of advanced regional science methodologies throughout the Asia-Pacific region.
