The Regional Science Academy has the mission to serve the broader spatial science community by providing new insights and ideas on research that are normally not covered by the usual regional science conferences and that provide signposts for future research or initiatives in the field.
Two different types of events will be organized:
Advanced Brainstorming Carrefour (ABC) meetings will be promoted in collaboration with Universities or Reserach Centres, focusing in a specific theme and addressing new research directions (e.g. spatial big data, the science of the city, ageing population and migration) for Regional Science.
Signatures of Regional Science are open special sessions in which well-known regional scientists will offer new perspectives. Normally these sessions comprise the following types of presentations:
An outline of the scientific importance and contribution of a well-known (or less well-known) scholar in the field;
A sketch of new developments in a given important field of regional science research.
Short contributions of spatial scientists on publications which have been of critical importance for their career.
