The Regional Science Academy will organize three events on the occasion of the 59thConference of the European Regional Science Association (ERSA), to be held in Lyon from the 27thto the 30thof August.
“A Happy Marriage: Regional Science and Spatial Planning in the Digital Age” is the topic for an “Advanced Brainstorm Carrefour”, involving 15 academic contributions from Europe, Asia and America. The event will be held in the afternoon of the 26thand the morning of the 27thof August, before the opening session for the ERSA Congress. During the Congress, The Regional Science Academy will promote a special academic meeting under the series “Signatures of Regional Science”. Titled, “In the Footsteps of Walter Isard: an event to mark the centenary of the birth of Walter Isard, founder of regional science”, to be held during the afternoon of the 29thof August. These two meetings are open for all participants of the ERSA Conference and aim to celebrate the scientific ambition of this international gathering.
During the evening of the 29thof August, The Regional Science Academy promotes an event in honour of Peter Nijkamp, Vice-President of ERSA, celebrating his 50thparticipation in a ERSA Congress. This event will be held on the boat Le Sirius, requiring previous registration, once the capacity is limited. The program (including free drinks & finger food) is online, including an interactive discussion on ideas that we should forget or neglect versus ideas we should cherish and apply in regional science. We expect more than 100 participants. The local organizers, Dominique Mignot, Louafi Bouzouina and Yvan Romero, ought to be thanked for their fantastic support, which makes this ERSA conference unbeaten in the rich history of regional science.
